Arcady is an ensemble dedicated to the recording and performance of the music of Ronald Beckett. The organization combines outstanding young Canadian performers with established professional instrumentalists and singers. Arcady’s young artists are all of exceptional talent and have achieved a level of excellence that has set them apart from their colleagues. The ensemble has also established a reputation for its energetic and imaginative performances of early music.
Founded and directed by Beckett, Arcady offers between 20 and 30 performances in Toronto and Southwestern Ontario each year. It offers to its presenters programs ranging from flute and piano duo to full choral-orchestral performances. The ensemble has appeared on TVO’s On Stage at Studio 2 and can be heard frequently on CBC Radio.
Arcady has released five CDs, including three for the Crescendo label: A Baroque Messiah (1999), Welcome Yule! (2001), and Ruth (2007), a Christmas CD for Ruby Productions (Peace on Earth - 2000), and an instrumental CD entitled A Beckett Miscellany with Phoenix Records (2002). Arcady recordings have received extensive radio play on classical stations in North America and Europe. Members of the ensemble have appeared on TVO’s On Stage at Studio 2 and London’s The NewPl.
